I got to go for a walk/run today in the Battle Creek Park Reserve. A
definate bonus to living here (well sorta for now at least) but now
I'm making noodles for dinner (the only real food here) and working on
some more taping!

First projects
Well, after the closing the work began! Mom and I cleaned out the cupboards and drawers in the kitchen, and mom took on the task of washing all the windows! We also used the carpet scrubber and cleaned all the carpets! I'm pleased to announce that there was only one major injury, and it wasn't even me! Mom sliced her finger on the fireplace, which was not awesome. 20 band-aids later, it seems to be healing (right, Mom?).
Saturday mom came back and brought dad with... then the fun stuff was done!
- Dad put in the rumble strip, which they tell me is really called a threshold strip... don't ask me why I think it is called a rumble strip, it's just what I call it. I'm awesome, okay? :)
- We also put in new door knobs/locks. I get to say "we" because I got to decode the picture directions. I get that a lot of people can't speak English. But for those of us who can, can you write the words with it too? Awesome, thanks.
- Mom changed the belt in the vacuum... and then changed it back. Only smells like burning a little bit, so we'll just keep hoping for the best
- Oh yeah, Karlie came too! She took off the railings and all the light switch covers/outlet covers for painting next week. thanks!
- Dad washed the high up windows (mom doesn't do ladders) and we cleaned the chandelier. Phew, that things was DISGUSTING!!
- We also puttied all the holes and cleaned some more.
Oh yeah, and now, I own appliances too!! REALLY AWESOME PRETTY NEW AND SUPER CLEAN appliances.
I wish mom could have gotten a picture of my face when they lifted up the fridge. So, I was expecting 2 Brock Lesner types to come carry my appliances in. I was nervous (but doing a good job of not showing it)... instead, they took my HUGE fridge and lifted it up with these two straps. I about fell over (literally). Seriously, it was probably the most amazing thing I've ever seen two average-sized Joe's done (okay, really, an Eric and an Omar, but still!).
I've been spending some time at the house, just being there and doing things like putting away spices, and patterning my dishes (red, yellow, red, yellow, red...?? yellow, that's right!) -- I can do things like that, because IT'S MY HOUSE!!
Also, did you know, that taping before painting is a big huge hassle? Ugh, it took me seriously probably 40 minutes to tape half of the stair well. yikes. only a million more places to tape in the next week. but alas, not tonight...
Have you ever signed your name 50 times?
So, I closed on my townhouse on Friday morning. What an experience that was... the closing lady was late, which drives me CRAZY. I wasn't the one who set up the appointment for 9:30. If you knew you wanted to start at 9:50, you should have scheduled it that way. Ahh, but I digress before I even get to the point.
I own a townhouse!!!

Also, little known fact about closing on a house. Did you know you have to sign a form that says that this is what your signature looks like? Did they not get it from the 49 other signatures that I made? Ahh, the government, way to legislate for ridiculous things like that.
But other than the lateness of the closing lady, and the $790 we had to shell out for closing fees and the remainder of the down payment, everything went smoothly!
And now, the fun begins!
